The UK allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, a rare honor for any film or movie production, especially an American one
Synopsis
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands a high-profile job she is ill-suited for, with dramatic consequences for her marriage and political future. Producers convinced both the US and UK governments to allow them to use real locations for the series, including, most recently, the US Embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.

The only location that was off-limits was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as being the largest residential property (11 acres) in London, next to Buckingham Palace, producers used a country house outside the city for filming.
Keri Russell’s performance here is nothing short of a revelation
Her portrayal of American diplomat Kate Wyler is a fascinating mix of strength, humor, intelligence, vulnerability and, oh my god, sexiness. The Diplomat skillfully pokes fun at the sphere of international diplomacy and its inhabitants.
All Netflix needs to do now is announce a second season and let Ms
And while the world hasn’t yet fallen for the plot’s scam, the amazingly talented, diverse cast makes it easy to believe that most governments are taken over by people who never emotionally left high school. This series looks good, sounds good, feels good – it’s extremely entertaining and intelligent adult entertainment.
